In my usual fashion of involuntary starvation I had’nt eaten all day so I decided to stop by Salt Grill and Cafe in Wuse 2. I was also planning to meet some folks there so I arrived before they did, The set up was not what I expected. It was all outside seating with the turf grass thing that is quite common for outside cabana like restaurants in Abuja. I tried to go inside a building I assumed was the inside seating but a waiter motioned for me to sit outside. I was given the menu and on looking it over, I saw it wasn’t too extensive..infact the drink menu was a lot better than the food menu. Anyway, I went on to order a Chicken Sharwarma with hotdog and cheese (N1300) , I also ordered a bottle of Orijin and side of fries. My friend had just eaten so she just got a bottle of STAR beer.
The food took about 20 minutes to be prepared, but my drink and fries came first (N500 for Orijin, N1000 for Fries.), Now i am a firm believer that fries should not cost more than N500 anywhere, However, the fries were a good portion and they were almost all gone by the time my sharwarma came around. The sharwarma was quite good, a good size..I would say a medium and the Chicken was tasty and I think the cheese added a certain zing to it.
Service was quite impressive as well, the waiters were courteous and friendly and willing to help out with questions and so on. The atmosphere is also quite nice, very coded if you like your privacy and want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Wuse 2, its quite hidden away and the outside seating is very well set up.
Would I recommend Salt? Sure, it’s a nice place to hang out with friends and just relax over drinks. The prices are a bit much though (I saw prices up to 5k for what?) for the main meals but maybe I will come back and try something else to see if they are worth the price.
